Border Patrol Shuts Down Cartel Scouting Lookout in Southern Arizona

Agents arrested and charged two Mexican men with smuggling and conspiracy.

U.S. Border Patrol agents shut down a cartel’s mountain lookout in southern Arizona this month, arresting two Mexican scouts and their supplies. The Chief Patrol Agent of the Tuscon Sector released video footage of the operation on social media, showing a helicopter descending and agents descending from a helicopter on the mountain top.

“Border Patrol deals a blow to cartel scouts!” the chief patrol agent stated. “Tucson Sector Special Operations Detachment located and destroyed a scouting site used by cartel operatives in southern Arizona. The mountaintop perch served as surveillance base for smuggling operations west of Ajo, AZ.”

The two Mexican men, who had previously been deported, were detained at the scene and have been charged with smuggling, conspiracy, and immigration-related offenses.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For U.S. Border Patrol agents as they seek to shut down cartel operations near the nation’s border,
  • For Secretary Noem and officials in DHS, ICE, and CBP as they work to improve national security.
